Iridescent Opium Poppy - Pendant or Table Light

The original Opium Poppy is a statement light designed to work beautifully as either a pendant lamp or a sculptural table light. In the Iridescent colourway, it becomes a shifting, light-responsive centrepiece that transforms throughout the day.

Crafted from translucent mirror iridescent acrylic with layered frosted diffusion, the shade has a mirrored iridescent interior and a softened frosted exterior. The interior surface reflects light back into the form, while the outer layer diffuses it gently. Together, these materials create a layered effect that catches natural light by day and produces warm, atmospheric rainbow tones when illuminated at night.

Inspired by vintage lighting alongside midcentury modern and space age design, the Opium Poppy balances expressive material with a strong, considered silhouette. The medium scale makes it versatile enough to hang above a dining table or kitchen island, or to sit confidently on a base as a table lamp in living rooms and bedrooms.

Each piece is meticulously designed and handmade by Olly Denby in his Hastings workshop. Precision laser-cut acrylic components are carefully assembled by hand, resulting in a light that feels substantial, detailed, and made to last.

Design & Installation

As a pendant lamp, the Opium Poppy is designed to fit a standard 40mm pendant lamp fixture. When configured as a table lamp, it can be paired with compatible bases and electrical components.

To maximise the iridescent effect, position the lamp where it can interact with natural or artificial light. Cool white or daylight bulbs between 5000 and 6500 Kelvin enhance the colour shifts, while colour-changing smart bulbs allow for greater flexibility. Bulbs are not included unless specified.
